AutoCAD is the most widely used CAD (Computer Aided Design) software. The first version of AutoCAD was released in 1982.  In those days AutoCAD was the only CAD program, for all intents and purposes. Even today, when there are dozens of different CAD programs, knowledge of AutoCAD is still mandatory since there are millions of AutoCAD users worldwide and many legacy projects still require AutoCAD.

AutoCAD is arguably the best choice in the drafting industry for companies that gather architects, civil and mechanical engineers, project managers, city planners, and other professionals. It could be said that AutoCAD is the only major CAD program for technical documentation creation that can be used by all engineering professionals and even more, with a satisfactory level of efficiency.
