3ds Max

Want to learn the basics of Autodesk 3D Studio Max? You’ve come to the right place.

The course is intended for anyone who wants to master one of the most powerful 3D modeling and visualization software. Whether you are a beginner or have experience as a graphic designer, architect or visual artist, this course will be of use to bring your creative ideas to life in a 3D environment. In this basic 3D Studio Max course, run by a certified Autodesk lecturer, you will receive information that are crucial for further professional development in the areas of industrial design, architecture, gaming and the film industry.
In this course, you will be introduced to the basic principles of 3D graphics and the working environment of the program. You will also master the tools to create simple and complex 3D models, apply materials, illuminate the scene, define cameras, and render to produce the final visualization.

Getting to know 3ds Max
• Familiarity with the graphical environment
• Work with files
• On-screen manipulation, scene movement, predefined views
• Various types of object selection
• Basic object transformations: Move, Rotate, and Scale commands
• Object Copy Commands: Clone, Align, Mirror
• Standard primitive objects. Exercise – Gradac Church from basic geometric objects

Modifiers
• Accurately move objects
• Creating advanced primitive models, grouping objects
• Work with basic modifiers and work on a sub-project level
• Exercise – Table with kettle

Lines
• Creating different types of lines, working with dots
• Working with text, options for rendering text, applying some modifiers to text
• Exercise – Chandelier
• Change curves, Editable Spline modifier, Bull operations
• Self-Exercise – Book

Polygonal modeling
• Basics of polygonal modeling
• Edit Poly modifier, sub-object level elements
• Selections within the Edit Poly modifier
• Commands for working with points, edges and polygons (Chamfer, Fillet, Extrude, Connect, Weld, Bevel, Inset commands)
• Exercise – Street lighting

Materials
• Introduction to the concept and role of materials, Material Editor tool, V-Ray basics
• Examples of basic materials and their properties
• Textures, examples of basic materials and their properties
• Maps and UVW Mapping modifier
• Exercise for creating interior materials (metal, glass, wood, wall, fabric, parquet)

Lighting
• The concept and types of lights
• Standard lights: omni, spot, direct
• Photometric lights: sphere, spot, ies
• V-Ray light: plane
• Intensity, color of light and shade, decrease of intensity
• Exercise – Interior lighting

Render
• Familiarity with the rendering panel
• Environment and Effects menu

Preparation for final work

Upon completion of the course students will receive the internationally recognized Autodesk Certificate of Completion, as well as the Crater VFX Training Center Certificate.

A consistently top-rated Autodesk instructor for Serbia, he was also licensed by the Institute for the Advancement of Education and Training to provide IT training to high school teachers. In collaboration with Computer Library Čačak, he has authored four AutoCAD instruction books.
A multi-talent, Saša also worked on various projects related to stage design, advertising, and business process monitoring software implementation. Formally educated as a Naval Architect at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, he has spent his life expanding his knowledge of computer graphics and its cross-industry applications.
